Recession leads to rise in calls to Samaritans

One in eight calls to the Samaritans in the last 12 months was recession-related, a report published yesterday has found. Loneliness, depression and anxiety also featured strongly among the issues raised by callers.
Mayo GAA manager to launch new suicide awareness group

In the west of Ireland, the subject of suicide is again a topic of conversation with local community campaigner Joe McGuire launching a new voluntary suicide awareness group called www.talkaboutit.ie
