New site aimed at young people

A new website aimed at helping young people with mental health issues has been launched. The website, www.reachout.com, is operated by the Inspire Ireland Foundation and was modelled on a successful Australian site also aimed at young people.

People with common mental disorders such as depression and anxiety are at increased risk of becoming obese, according to new research.The findings also showed that individuals with chronic or repeat episodes of common mental disorders are particularly at risk.

The Luv bears which was the winning product, developed on TV3's The Apprentice, is available to purchase in 470 SPAR stores nationwide, with all proceeds going to the 3ts — turn the tide of suicide.

Fatty processed foods linked to depression

Eating well may help stave off depression later on in life, a new study claims. But people who are partial to fatty processed foods may be up to twice as likely to suffer from depression than their healthy eating counterparts, according to the study conducted at University College London.
