SOSAD get brewery boost Charity get boost from Northern Brewery By Ian Cameron A Suicide Awareness charity gained an extra boost this week - a special cheque from the Great Northern Brewery.

The Save Our Sons and Daughters (SOSAD), a support group for those bereaved by Suicide, based in Dundalk, received a 4193.90 cheque from the Great Place To Work team based at the Great Northern Brewery, Dundalk.

The €4193.90 cheque was presented to the charity recently by Diageo Dundalk's Planning Manager Frank Maguire, after SOSAD was selected from a draw of charities nominated by staff. The money for the donation came from a sizzling summer barbeque and an eagerly contested charity football game.

Save Our Sons and Daughters is a support group that was set up to provide help and assistance to those bereaved by suicide and a support group with a range of services including counselling and complementary therapies.

SOSAD representative, Peter Moroney said: "We are extremely grateful to everyone at the Great Northern Brewery for this very generous donation.

"Our charity, like many others, is experiencing difficulties in these challenging financial times and this donation will help us to continue providing out services to families in Dundalk and the surrounding areas." Diageo Dundalk's Operations ManagerAidan Crowe said: "Weare thrilled mat the fundsraised by our charitynight have gone to thisvery worthwhile causeand that our decision tosupport the SOSAD charitywill hopefully make asignificant difference tothe lives of people acrossCo.Louth." SOSAD (Save ourSons and Daughters)is an organisation withfive main goals: To raiseawareness of suicide inIreland; To break the taboosurrounding suicide;To provide support anddirection to those feelingsuicidal; To providesupport and directionto those approached bysomeone feeling suicidal;and to provide supportand direction for thosebereaved by suicide.
