Everyone feels sad or down from time to time but this is not the same as depression. Depression is often described as feeling that you are down in a large black pit, with no light, and unable to get out. Other symptoms can be feelings of worthlessness, loss of interest in activities, and very poor sleep patterns. Also the adrenal glands may be exhausted and this increases stress hormones.
Whilst mental depression is experienced in the mind it usually relates to a stagnant liver. Therefore it is very important to renew and support the liver. Treatment Plan Please seek help, don't suffer alone. Proper nutrients do play a big role and are vital for brain functioning and balance. You may need medication for some time to help you through. You can then work on other aspects to help yourself.
Foods
Certain foods work well for minor depression. They are brown rice, apples cucumber, ginger, algae, fennel, turmeric. An old remedy to lift the spirits is cider vinegar mixed with honey and warm water three times a day. Avoid coffee and fizzy drinks Supplements Take B complex daily. Calcium/magnesium daily. Liquorice root. EFA/ Eskimo oil Chromium to balance blood sugar levels Drink lots of water.
Exercise During spring and winter try to go for walks when sun is out. Don't wear shades - let the sunshine into your life. Push yourself a little every day to something different such as exercise. You will have more energy and feel better.
Herbal treatment There are lots of different herbs to support the nervous system. They can be taken in liquid or capsule form. Scutellaria is an excellent herb to take and can be combined with other herbs for the liver, such as peony. St John's wort is another popular herb, but take with caution as it can interfere with other drugs. Ask your practitioner. Remember you are a soul with a physical body and spiritual healing is vital. Your chakras get clogged and stop functioning. So seek healing. Meditate as it calms the mind and leleases tension
